Race day notes

  • Season rhythm: Wednesdays from October to March with a short Christmas and New Year break.
  • Start times: Registration opens 5:30pm, kids briefing closes at 5:45pm, kids start at 6:00pm, senior waves from 6:15pm.
  • Venue: Bairnsdale Aquatic and Recreation Centre (BARC), McKean Street, Bairnsdale.
  • Course feel: Kids swim in the pool, then ride off road behind BARC and run on the wetlands path.
  • Parking: Use BARC parking and arrive early enough to unload gear and walk to transition before briefing.
  • Race briefing: New athletes should listen for the kids briefing before 6:00pm and the senior wave briefing immediately before the first start. Kids should be registered by 5:45pm.
  • Entry: Weekly pricing runs from free to about $5 for kids and up to about $14 for seniors depending on club and pool membership status.
  • Improvement format: Mini tris are built around personal best improvement points rather than straight head-to-head racing, so the first night is a baseline as much as a race.
